Marillion, Peter Hammill, 23 March 1983

  • I was living in Worcester at the time. My landlord had bought ‘Script for a Jesters Tear’ & played it to death. He was delighted when he heard Marillion were playing MWG, & invited us tenants along. We weren’t over keen – they sounded like Genesis copyists to us – but then we found out Pete Hamill, ex Van Der Graff Generator was supporting. Hamill played a stormer of a set. ‘Don’t think anyone can follow that’ said one of us, & we spent most of the Marillion set in the bar.
